Meet Simon - Training & Apprenticeship Manager
Why did you choose to work for MAN?
I had seen a number of former colleague’s progress at MAN and realised in order to accelerate my career I needed to get on board too.
Describe what it’s like to work here in three words.
Innovative, fascinating and fun.
What do you get up to in a typical week?
Constant interaction between internal departments and external providers regarding Apprentice needs and requirements. Also, being responsible for the technical training I ensure that our on-site training facility is geared up so our network technicians are trained to be the best.
What’s been your proudest moment at work?
Representing the UK for Aftersales at the IAA Hannover last year, it also made me realise just how big the brand is.
What makes someone successful here?
Get your head up and get noticed, there is always something new to learn.
How have you and your career developed since you joined us?
I started as a technician supervisor in the workshop on a fast track training programme, within 3 years I was a regional technical manager responsible for 13 sites across the South East. Positive feedback meant I was encouraged to go for a job as Key Account Manager where I enjoyed the customer interactions immensely. Following a business structure change I re-joined the South East sales region supporting customers and dealers as Area After-Sales Manager. 4 years on I want to impart my knowledge to others and have taken on the challenge of my new role, Training and Apprenticeship Manager at the Swindon training school. It’s been a 10-year journey that has seen me realise my potential and I look forward to the next chapter.
What’s the best thing about working for MAN?
There is never a dull moment. For almost everyone there is the opportunity, at some stage, to go along to events, launches and shows across the country. You can see our great products on stage and in action, even driving them round Millbrook!

In my short lifetime this upstanding member of the community has served Jury service twice already, I must have an honest face!
