Meet Johnny - Marketing & Communications Manager

• Why did you choose to work for MAN?

  I had been with my previous company for nearly 16 years and saw this opportunity come up and took it as a fresh start. There was also a previous colleague that worked at MAN already and they said what a great place it was to work – I was sold!

• Describe what it’s like to work here in three words.

  Supportive, varied, enjoyable.

• What do you get up to in a typical week? It can vary a lot in this role.

  I work across several projects covering all areas of the business to ensure we are marketing the MAN brand and its products in the right way and to the right people. This involves many channels including digital, traditional media, and the brand experience we offer at events throughout the year. The role also involves data analysis and working closely with a range of agencies to provide us with creative ways of marketing to the public.

• What’s been your proudest moment at work?

  I’ve only been working here for eight months, but one that sticks out was the creation of a print advert from scratch on my first day, with a 15-minute deadline to supply. A small win, but it gave me that instant confidence that my skillset was appreciated from day one.

• What makes someone successful here?

  Ensuring you have a positive attitude to the role and always being willing to assist others, as I feel that’s what keeps such a positive culture in the workplace.

• How have you and your career developed since you joined us?

  With less than a year in the role, it’s a difficult one to answer. But I feel MAN has already given me the confidence to explore new ideas, test things out and become an integrated part of the Community Engagement group where we get to plan events that aim to help charities and the wider community.

• What’s the best thing about working for MAN?

  The people and culture. Everyone is lovely to work with and everyone I speak to is happy to support me.

  Working on my mental health in the past year and embracing my sexuality at home and in the workplace.

  I used to run a touch rugby team called Lighthall Lobsters.

  Kale, Pea and walnut pesto with wholewheat spaghetti – it’s great!
