Meet James - Truck Sales Executive

• Why did you choose to work for MAN?

  I wanted to work for a large truck manufacturer and being employed directly by MAN was a good move. There was job security, training and more opportunities to improve my career. 

• Describe what it’s like to work here in three words.

  A rollercoaster ride.

• What do you get up to in a typical week?

  Site visits and customer meetings at their yards/offices. Meetings at Trafford Park with my manager. Parts orders and pre-delivery department meetings. Prospecting for new customers in the area. Delivering and collecting demo trucks. Delivering new trucks to customers. Arranging finances with VWFS. 

• What’s been your proudest moment at work?

  As sales people will tell you, every time you get an order signed it gives you a buzz of excitement, but properly selling to new customers who have never had MAN before. We call them conquest customers. 

• What makes someone successful here?

  Being able to work with a lot of departments and people quickly. 

• How have you and your career developed since you joined us?

  I now sell in the area that I live in and have built up a few great relationships that now buy the MAN product line. 

• What’s the best thing about working for MAN?

  Working with a great team of people that all try their best to help you.

• What’s been your proudest moment outside of work?

  I have two kids. My son, age 14, played a football tournament in Italy, which was ace. My daughter, 11, got third place in a pony horse show jumping competition out of 22 ponies. She has worked so hard training the horse for six months beforehand. 

• If you could invite 3 people to a dinner party, who would they be?

  Of course, Margot Robbie, Lando Norris and Robbie Williams. 

• Tell us something about yourself that might surprise us.

  I completed a 10K tough mudder. 

• What’s your favourite film?

  Wolf of Wall Street. 

• What’s your signature dish?

  Fillet steak.
