Meet Duncan - Service Technician

  • Why did you choose to work for MAN?

    I was offered the opportunity to re-train as a Technician with MAN which seemed to be an interesting choice of career having spent many years as a Transport Refrigeration Engineer. It seemed like an exciting change of direction career wise and the chance of progression within the company was very appealing.

  • Describe what it is like to work here in 3 words.

    Rewarding, satisfying and motivational.

  • What do you get up to in a typical week?

    A typical week for me would be duties such as servicing, truck inspections and diagnosing and rectifying faults.

  • What’s been your proudest moment at work?

    As a mature student who entered the apprenticeship scheme, I was very grateful and lucky enough to be recognised on each of the three years at the MAN apprentice of the year awards.

    Year 1. Most improved service Technician.

    Year 2. Apprentice of the year runner up.

    Year 3. Apprentice of the year runner up.

  • What makes someone successful here?

    Hard work, determination and motivation. This is always recognised and there is great potential to working your way up the promotional ladder.

  • How have you and your career developed since you joined us?

    I have grown in confidence with the exceptional level of training given to me by attending courses at The Training School in Swindon and by the knowledge passed on to me by the experienced Techs that I work with. This will help develop my career within the company to becoming a better Technician.

  • What’s the best thing about working for MAN?

    I get great satisfaction out of my job and they look after their staff very well.
