Driving your journey – spotlight on Matt Chojnacki
It’s safe to say that Matt Chojnacki is proud of his career at MAN. When he accepted the offer to join us this year, he felt it was too good an opportunity to turn down: “My title doesn’t give the full scope. ‘Sales Executive’ may seem like a junior role in this industry, but the reality is very different!”
Having previously worked at another vehicle manufacturer, he found the expectation to work away regularly wasn’t beneficial to his family life. “My region at another company was Newcastle to Leicester, which was a big area. I have a large and young family (four kids, a kitten and a tortoise), and both parents work. I was away for over 60 nights a year, which was way too much.”
With his new MAN role comes a new area to cover, and working across the North-East to Cumbria is something he enjoys. “I don’t sit in a showroom and wait for customers; I have a hunter-gatherer role – finding enquiries and getting our name out there.”
Already, his experience of MAN is very different compared to competitors. What makes us unique? “In the dealer world, you don’t see the order, the factory, the delivery, the cleaning, accessories, funding, etc. We do. We see every step of the order and delivery process from start to finish. We have visibility of our vehicles from production right the way through to conversion..”
Matt initially found the easy access to senior management unusual. “There aren’t many companies where I can pick up the phone and have a casual conversation with the Managing Director. He’s very open and interested in what we’re doing.”
We’re always ready to showcase the skills and friendliness of our Pride. But what has Matt’s experience been so far? “There are a lot of very good people in this company. Really talented, colleagues who have been at MAN for a long time or new recruits, like me, with a breadth of experience – people who are happy to share their knowledge. MAN is going through a lot of exciting change. There are lots of things ready to take us to the next level”
The Pride is constantly growing, and we find the right people by interviewing them effectively. When invited to interview for this role, Matt was able to see very quickly that life at MAN is about taking pride in service and driving your own journey. “It’s very much about driving what you do here; you get out what you put in, and there’s a huge amount of responsibility. You get an opportunity to build your own area, prospects, dip into a particular market segment – it’s this entrepreneurial autonomy that I love!
Finally, what’s Matt’s advice for someone keen to join The Pride? “Understand the size and scale of MAN. We’re the only company to offer vehicles from 3.5t-280t. There’s always something different to be involved with from a branch level or even at MAN Truck & Bus UK company wide,. This is a really interesting role that isn’t just about sitting in a show room!”

🚴Mission Accomplished! 🚴 A massive shoutout to our incredible Transaid Cyclist Team—Tony Jones, James Bircham, and Joe Nkosi—who have just completed their epic 474 km ride across Kenya’s central belt! 🌟 They faced everything from long, gruelling stretches to rough, unpredictable terrain, pushing their limits through every kilometre. But the hard work was worth the impactful cause they rode for. 💪 We couldn't be prouder of their dedication and resilience. Together, they’ve raised over £5,000 for Transaid’s vital work in improving road safety and access to health services. Thank you to everyone who supported them on this journey, every contribution makes a real difference! #MANTruckAndBus #TeamMAN #CycleKenya2024 #Transaid #CharityChallenge #RoadSafety #peopledriven
Day five is officially in the bag for our MAN #CycleKenya2024 team, and what an incredible day it was! 🤩 After passing through Eldoret, the 'City of Champions', the day before, they were up early and ready for a gruelling ride in the 32-degree heat 🥵. Cycling through Kakamega Forest, James somehow found himself with a new job as a tea picker, while Joe brightened the day for local children by gifting them a football and sweets, which they loved. Amazing work, team, and thank you for the update! #MANTruckAndBus #TeamMAN #CycleKenya2024 #Transaid #CharityChallenge #RoadSafety #PeopleDriven
